Thirty-five students with disabilities are now graduates of this year’s Alabama Governor’s Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). The 18th edition of the program took place last week on the campus of Troy University and was sponsored by ADRS.
YLF is an innovative, intensive, five-day career leadership training program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities throughout Alabama.
Program activities focus on career planning, leadership development, technology resources, and information on disability history to assist young people with disabilities in reaching their maximum potential. On June 8, the students toured the state Capitol and attended a mentor luncheon at the RSA Activity Center in Montgomery.
In addition to ADRS and Troy University, the forum is also made possible by the Alabama Department of Mental Health and the Alabama Council on Developmental Disabilities.
