The Montgomery office of VRS-Deaf Services is holding a five-day Job Readiness Class this week to equip job seekers with hearing impairments with the information necessary to ensure success on the job.

During the course, attendees are learning how to better market themselves when meeting potential employers, receiving advice from several area employers and job training providers including Wells Fargo, Wind Creek Casino, Alabama Industrial Development Training (AIDT), Ruby Tuesday, American Red Cross, the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the Family Guidance Center of Alabama, and E.H. Gentry Technical Facility.

In addition to including mock interviews, the weeklong course also gives participants the opportunity to interview for potential positions with local companies, said Deaf Support Specialist Raven Buffer-Hardy.

The course includes team-building exercises as well as information presented in a traditional classroom format.

Sponsors for the event are Buffalo Rock, Chick-fil-A, Dreamland Bar-B-Q, Hungry Howie’s, Jimmy John’s, Olive Garden, Papa John’s, Sam’s Club, and Subway.
