The Birmingham-area Transition Think Tank Committee held its quarterly meeting at the Jefferson County Workforce Development office building Dec. 11.

The meeting featured panelists representing ACIPCO (American Cast Iron Pipe Company), Brookwood Medical Center, CEFA (Construction Education Foundation of Alabama), Lowe’s, and Regions Bank discussing issues that they face as employers. The meeting was designed to provide key stakeholders – including ADRS, the Alabama Department of Mental Health, the State Department of Education, the Jefferson County Community and Economic Development Department (WIA), Alabama’s Career Center System, special education teachers and coordinators, and others – with insight into how to best assist transition-age teens in obtaining work.
